Research submarine Deep Rover \u2013 the original:<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Deep Rover<\/a> DR1002 is a two-man research submarine<\/a>. It was produced by Deep Ocean Engineering<\/a> in the USA. The rovers became famous through their appearances in various Hollywood films and through their exploration of the wreck of the Titanic.<\/p>\n

Depths of up to 1000 meters can be achieved with the Deep Rover. The sophisticated drive concept using four jet propellers make the Deep Rover extremely manoeuvrable. The two gripping arms (manipulators) make it possible to retrieve samples and other materials from the depths.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The model is a 1:8 scale kit. This kit can be ordered via Model-Submarine-Specialties<\/a> in Germany.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The basis of the Deep Rover:<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

My model was built over the years 2016-2017 from the kit, which provides a very good basis.<\/p>\n

In addition, miniature screws for detailing the windows and various other small parts can also be ordered at Model-Submarine-Specialties<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The details of the Deep Rover:<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

In order to give the model a special touch and to achieve an appearance that is as true to the original as possible, numerous other details are attached.<\/p>\n

The seats and armrests in the interior were provided with upholstery. Two pilotes<\/a> of the appropriate scale accompany the diving trips and breathe life into the model.<\/p>\n

The monitors on the ceiling and the other instruments in the interior are equipped with brass eached parts<\/a> and backlid.<\/p>\n

Lighting that corresponds to the original was installed all around. This consists of flashing position lights on the two antennas and spotlights to illuminate the scene.<\/p>\n

The hydraulic lines and valves on the manipulators were simulated using silicone tubing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The functions of the Deep Rover in detail:<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\u2013 Driving forwards\/backwards using the horizontally installed motors
\u2013 Drive left\/right via the horizontally installed motors (turning on the spot possible)
\u2013 Sink\/climb using the vertically installed motors
\u2013 Laterally traverse over the vertically installed motors
- Lighting:
\u2014 In the interior, the instruments are backlit with LEDs
\u2014 The position lights on the two masts flash on the fuselage
\u2014 A headlight is attached to each of the runners for illumination
\u2014 A spotlight is also attached to the carrier above the sphere for illumination
\u2014 Additional, optional lighting of the grippers on the manipulators can be attached to the manipulators using brackets (currently still under construction)
