It's also known as a mecca for tech and anime lovers. The shops offer everything from the latest gadgets to manga, gaming, and merchandise.<\/p>\n<p>There are numerous hotels here, some of them at reasonable prices. Whether you book with or without breakfast depends on your personal travel plans. The trains are relatively compact, some have a retro look, and travel through narrow streets, residential areas, past temples, and along the coast. Many people are reminded of old movies or anime.<\/p>\n<p>The line connects Kamakura with Fujisawa and stops at Enoshima, a popular coastal island. Along the way, there are stops where you can discover temples and shrines, beaches with ocean views, and small, cozy stations located right in residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>At times the train even runs through narrow streets right next to houses \u2013 that\u2019s quite unique in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Enoden is famous from anime and films such as \"Slam Dunk\"\u2014the railway crossing near Kamakurak\u014dk\u014dmae Station is a pilgrimage site for fans. The brick facade on the Marunouchi side, which still stands today, dates back to its opening in 1914 and was designed by Tatsuno Kingo.<\/p>\n<p>The station was opened in 1914 as a common terminus for the T\u014dkaid\u014d, T\u014dhoku and Ch\u016b\u014d lines.<\/p>\n<p>During World War II, the roof domes and the upper floor were destroyed in fire attacks in 1945. Reconstruction until 1947 reduced the building to two upper floors.<br \/>In 2012, the original domes were reconstructed, and a representative forecourt was created in front of the Marunouchi entrance.<\/p>\n<p>For us, the journey continued from this historic station to Kyoto on the Shinkansen, Japan's high-speed train.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_117 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_146 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_74 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3>Conclusion:<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_75 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>Tokyo rightfully enjoys a reputation as a cosmopolitan city.
