Research Submarine Delta – the original:
The research submarine Delta is a small two-man research submarine. It is provided by the company Delta Oceanographics in California
Since entering service in 1984, the Delta has successfully completed over 6,700 dives without incident. This makes it one of the most frequently used and most efficient research submarines. Due to its small size, the submarine is very flexible and can be used almost anywhere without great effort.
With the small submarine, depths of up to 360 meters can be reached. The oxygen for the crew is sufficient for a good 140 man hours.
During the diving trips a broad spectrum of subjects was covered. In addition to dives for research purposes, dives were also made for historical wrecks and treasures.
The submarine is also used to check and inspect pipelines and drilling platforms. The delta is also sometimes used to support fishing or to prepare precise underwater maps.
